[edit]Owen's gaffe wasn't a passed ball; it was scored an error according to the custom of the day.
- YANKEES 9TH: Sturm grounded out (second to first); Rolfe grounded out (pitcher to first); Henrich struck out [Henrich to first (error by Owen)]; DiMaggio singled to left [Henrich to second]; Keller doubled to right [Henrich scored (unearned), DiMaggio scored (unearned)]; Dickey walked; Gordon doubled to left [Keller scored (unearned), Dickey scored (unearned)]; Rizzuto walked; Murphy grounded out (shortstop to first); 4 R (0 ER), 3 H, 1 E, 2 LOB. Yankees 7, Dodgers 4.

- I was afraid of this: someone changed "error," to "mistake," which is correct enough, though imprecise. Keep watching: I predict that it'll be a "passed ball" again before long. WHPratt (talk) 17:44, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
And, again someone changed it to a "passed ball." As explained and demonstrated above, it was scored an error. WHPratt (talk) 03:27, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
